Friends of the poor

The mission of Philoptochos is to promote charitable, benevolent and philanthropic outreach; to preserve the sanctity of life and family; and to perpetuate and promote our Orthodox faith and traditions.

Our women’s Philoptochos, Friends of the Poor, meets on Sundays during Fellowship hour on the second Sunday of the month. All women over 18 are welcome to join. Contact our chapter President for more information.

  • Support Angels help provide meals or other services to families with newborns, those who have lost a loved one, or those who are going through an illness or surgery. Click HERE to get involved with Support Angels.

  • Senior Support Angels is a special ministry of friendship and love. We enjoy wonderful relationships with some of our remarkable senior parishioners through friendly phone calls and home visits, special cards, and occasional small gifts.   • Panaghia's Ministries, a ministry of St. Spyridon Philoptochos based in Ecuador, provides weekly meal kits to 75-80 families, housing help (new builds and repairs) as well as outreach for medical needs. It is entirely volunteer based, guarantying that all funds go to help those in need. Click HERE to learn more.

  • Loveland Community Kitchen is an organization, part of First United Presbyterian Church, that serves food daily to those in need in our community. To aid this mission, our parish provides volunteers to serve meals, breakfast foods foods through our annual Lenten food drive, and quarterly monetary donations and snack bags which are assembled by our Parish.   • Loveland SafeLot Parking is a ministry that provides safe overnight sleeping location as well as builds relationships with those living in their vehicles, and provide case management help with the goal of helping our guests transition to more permanent housing. We also provide meals and showers twice a week.

    We currently help to provide parking for 7 guests. The guests rotate month to month between Zion Lutheran Church and King of Glory Lutheran Church. Click HERE to get more information.

  • This ministry is organized to assist people who desire to follow the ancient Orthodox Christian burial practices.

    Our volunteers work to incorporate the family's preferences in planning the details of this sacred preparation of the body as well as the scheduling of the traditional Reading of the Psalms, which accompanies the deceased from the time of the separation of the soul from the body, to the time of the funeral.   • The Myrrhbearers, named after the seven women who were with Jesus at his death and came to anoint his body in preparation for burial, are a group of women (18 years of age and older) who are committed to the ministry of intercessory prayer.
