The Philoptochos Poor Box for August benefits St. Innocent Orphanage in Mexico.
You can donate online, or by sending a check payable to St. Spyridon Philoptochos with "St. Innocent" in the memo line.
Our very own Shannon Todd is currently serving at St. Innocent as a Summer Intern and Tutor/Counselor.
She shared a little bit about the great financial need they are facing at this time:
"Because of COVID-19, Project Mexico had to cancel Summer 2020 Homebuilding but Saint Innocent Orphanage is still providing a safe home for boys without families year-round! Homebuilding usually provides for half of our annual budget.
90 eggs: That’s how many we cooked in one morning alone for the boys of Saint Innocent Orphanage and the others they feed. It takes a lot to just keep the pantry stocked when you have more than 20 mouths to feed, three times a day. With God all things are possible and we are hoping to continue to provide food, school, ranch maintenance, and other expenses that come with your help!
I was blessed to be one of a few Summer Interns who were able to come down, help with ranch maintenance projects, and provide a break from the monotony of staying at home through extra activities and catechism for the boys from the safety of the ranch. I have seen in a new way just how important and beautiful this home is for so many - now including me!
Help support the work of Project Mexico and Saint Innocent Orphanage by donating to the Poor Box this month!"
