“The fear of God is the fear of being separated from God. We shouldn’t strive to penetrate Divine mysteries with our minds. We must accept the mystery. It won’t be revealed to us until we accept it as such. In order to receive something from God we need to ask Him with humility and not judge anyone. We should try and think less of ourselves and think more about God all the time.” Archimandrite Sergei

“Cleave to reading spiritual writings. It will lead you to that wonderful change which took place in so many saints. Through these works we receive great and holy enlightenment. Through them we learn of the path to salvation, we learn what kind of temptations await us on this path, and about the means by which we may be delivered from them.”

Archbishop Platon of Kostroma

  • Our parish is dedicated to fostering spiritual growth and renewal through a variety of retreats and pilgrimages held throughout the year. We offer pilgrimages to St. Paisius Monastery (stpaisiusmonastery.org) in the serene desert of Safford, Arizona, before Great Lent and Nativity Lent. Participants engage in Orthodox prayer and worship, attend daily talks and discussions on spiritual life, and enjoy time reflecting on the beauty of God’s creation while building fellowship with fellow pilgrims. These pre-Lenten pilgrimages provide unique spiritual enrichment. In addition, we host retreats at our parish during Great Lent and Nativity Lent. These immersive experiences offer parishioners the opportunity to step away from daily routines and embark on spiritual journeys, returning refreshed and revitalized in their commitment to our Lord. All are welcome to join our retreats and pilgrimages, including non-members. Children under 18 participating in pilgrimages must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. We look forward to your participation in these enriching experiences. For questions or to get involved, please contact pilgrimages@saintspyridon.church or retreats@saintspyridon.church
