Loveland SafeLot Parking (LSP) officially began hosting Guests in November who, because they are homeless, are forced to live in their vehicles. Our Guests stay (during alternating months) at Zion Lutheran Church and King of Glory Lutheran Church. St. Spyridon is a founding member of LSP, and through our parishioners’ volunteer efforts are providing love and support to our Guests.
LSP is a grassroots faith-based organization that provides safe, legal overnight parking for unhoused individuals and families in the Loveland area. You may know that having to live in your vehicle is one of the fastest growing segments of the homeless population. Our mission is to demonstrate Christ’s love to seniors and families who are forced to live in their vehicles. Our objectives are to provide a safe overnight sleeping location, build relationships with those living in their vehicles, and provide case management help through Loveland’s House of Neighborly Services, with the goal of helping our guests transition to more permanent housing.
We currently host 5 vehicles, who stay with us between 6 pm and 8 am. Each guest is provided a reserved parking space. Electrical connections for charging phones, a porta-potty and handwashing station, and waste receptacles are provided for our Guests’ use. We provide dinner and fellowship two nights per week, along with the opportunity to take showers.
There are multiple opportunities to volunteer, including hosting our Guests when at our SafeLot, preparing meals for our Guests, or just sharing fellowship with them during one of the hosted meals. If you are interested in volunteering please contact Rachel Cunningham, Chris Finger or Dn. Mark.
