This ministry serves the parish by developing software solutions to meet needs in the parish and beyond. We strive to maintain as much of an asynchronous workflow as possible with online project management tools, feature and bug tickets with achievable acceptance criteria. All code is source controlled and reviewed by a codeowners group as well as run through automated validation steps when pull requests are submitted.
Projects:
DigitalServiceBook: (http://digitalservicebook.online) An online service book framework designed to allow customization of service texts as the English translations improve. The initial offering is in support of the Orthros services on Sunday with coming features supporting Divine Liturgy and Vespers. Currently in pre-release state with active development ongoing. Technology Stack: Python, MongoDB, AWS Lightsail, CircleCI, Terraform
Live Stream Automation Utility: This service is coming soon to support faster scheduling of YouTube Live events in our camera. The CamStreamer software offers a robust API that we plan to wrap in a CLI tool to reduce the click count for scheduling with future development to leverage the Google Calendar API to create the broadcast events automacally. Technology Stack: Golang, GoogleScript, CircleCI
Other areas where we might develop tooling to improve our effectiveness include contributing to the Parish Life Connect platform (hint: our website runs on this platform), developing tools to interface with the BreezeCHMS (hint: our internal parish database and online giving platform), and many more.
