Church School
July 20, 2021

- Fr. Gabriel McHugh -

This year, Church School will look a little different. We will be holding mini camps on 8 Sundays after Liturgy. Modeled after Vacation Church Camp, these mini camps will be offered after Liturgy on 8 Sundays throughout the year and will include not only a lesson, but also activities which teach our children the theology and traditions of the Church while involving them in the liturgical life and seasons.

This new Church School program will be held on the following days:

Sep 12, Oct 3, Nov 7, Dec 5, Feb 6, Feb 27, April 3, May 1.

(Important note: Church School will only take place on these Sundays. For other weeks, you will receive an Operation Home Church video lesson.)

On these days, the schedule will be:

9:00 - 10:15 am: Liturgy

10:15 - 11:00 am: Children’s fellowship meal

11:00 - 11:30 am: Lesson

11:30 am - 12:30 pm: Enrichment activities

12:30 pm: Finish with a game

Here’s what it will look like: At the end of Liturgy on Church School days, children will receive Communion together, then be dismissed and walk to the fellowship hall for a meal, while the adults remain in the nave for a class. After this, the adults will go to the fellowship hall, and the children will return to the nave for a lesson, after which they will have the opportunity to participate in activities which involve them in the life of our Church. These activities include: Prosforo baking, altar boy class, Kollyva making, chant/choir, Artoklasia baking, flower arranging, confession class, iconography, crafts, games, and more!

Church School registration is open now through August 22 for ages 4-14.
