Expanding our Outreach
Recently our Panaghia's Pantry team in Ecuador shared with our PP team here that there was a desperate need to help a young man with an agressive and serious tumor behind his nose get necessary medical help and a surgery to save his life. This young man lives in their neighborhood. The whole neighborhood rallied together to help as you will read below. Even given their own financial struggles they dug deep and helped him and his family the best they could. Panaghia's Pantry provided funds to help, but there is more needed and we can all learn by their example. Panayota's narrative says it all.
In Ecuador, where we live, the communities are poor but they help each other as much as possible. Donations of small items for a Bingo fundraiser or a garage sale and public announcements for financial help for medical care or funerals are how they give. Donations from $1.00 up to $20.00, when possible, are given by those who can, however many times it is not enough.
Ecuador does have public free health care but in many health cases private medical care is needed which is very costly and must be pre-paid prior to treatment. Most that need this care do not survive because they do not have the resources.
Thanks to a compasionate doctor that put life before money and did a life saving surgery by putting care first, and to all that gave what they could, the life of a 17 year old young man was saved and is truly a blessing!
The parents continue to need help with this financial burden to cover the large amount that is still outstanding and for recovery care but their son survived and will have a normal life and they are so very grateful and thankful to God and all that gave what they could!
If you would like to contribute to this young man's future medical needs via Panaghia's Pantry, you can do so HERE. Please scroll down to "Panaghia's Outreach" to support this fund.
Thank you all for your continued generosity and support of Panaghia's Pantry through our food, housing and now outreach programs! We could not do it without you.
