St. Spyridon Brings Joy and Blessing to 3 Families This Christmas!

2022 Adopt-A-Family Project Success

Philoptochos, or Friends of the Poor, is delighted to report that our 2022 Adopt A Family project was a resounding success! We were able to provide for three families in need during this holiday season, providing not only tangible gifts but also financial assistance in the form of gift cards.

On December 9th several volunteers from the church delivered all items to Rocky Mountain High School where they were sorted and put on display for the families to pick up on Saturday December 10th. The amount of donations we received was simply amazing! In total we provided over 130 gifts/items ranging from cleaning supplies, new bedding sets, winter coats, to toys for kids as Christmas presents. On top of that, we were able to provide gift cards for groceries and a turkey for each family - totaling $595 worth in just gift cards.

In addition to the monetary contributions made by parish members and donors, we also received generous donations of time from volunteers who helped assemble, wrap, move, load, and deliver these items to the school. It’s a lot more work than it appears when there are over 130 items, and we appreciate everyone’s help!

With this project, we have lifted financial burdens off some shoulders while bringing warmth into people's homes at such a special time of year. It is our hope that through this effort we have spread goodwill throughout our community while reinforcing our commitment to serving those in need in any way we can.

Also, because of the generosity of this parish, we had an extra $550 in addition to everything we needed for this project. As we’ve done in years past, we decided it would be appropriate to send these funds to St. Innocent Orphanage in Mexico to provide Christmas gifts to the boys there.

The success of Adopt A Family this year is a testament to the generosity displayed by our parishioners and community members alike! Thank you to everyone who helped make this project possible – your efforts did not go unnoticed!
