"I wish I would have known about the Orthodox church years ago."
Those are words I have personally spoken and heard echoed by numerous people during my short time as a part of St. Spyridon. I wish my 23 years as a Christian and my 16 years in campus ministry, starting and pastoring a church would have been spent being cared for and enriched by the early Christian practices and beliefs that the Church embodies in our current day.
That is at the heart of Rooted, St. Spyridon's college ministry on Colorado State's campus. We want to connect Orthodox college students together on campus and to the larger St. Spyridon parish. We also want to introduce all CSU students to the beauty of these early church beliefs and practices, and the gifts that the Church holds for them. This semester we are just beginning to lay the foundations of a community on campus by gathering every Thursday night from 8-9pm. We have been thrilled with the community that God has already been developing in such a short period of time (the picture you see is of our first gathering in January)!
Please pray for this young ministry, for the students who are a part of it, and that this fall these students will be central to showing and telling inquiring CSU students about who God is and the blessings waiting for them within His Church.
