The Myrrhbearers
A History

- Barbara Finger and Robin Fergon -

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Gal. 6:2

The Myrrhbearers, named after the seven women who were with Jesus at his death and came to anoint his body in preparation for burial, are a group of women (18 years of age and older) who are committed to the ministry of intercessory prayer.

This ministry was started at St. Spyridon in October 2009 by Kathryn Morkunas and Barb Finger under the guidance and support of Philoptochos. We began with a small group of committed women and have grown to 15 members currently. As our group continued to grow and take on more responsibilities, such as a yearly service project and Orthros prayers at each Divine Liturgy, Robin Fergon joined our ministry as a co-leader in 2015.

We receive literally hundreds of prayer requests each month from clergy, parishioners, our prayer box located in the narthex and from online listeners from around the world. These prayer requests, often with no details, are prayed for by dedicated women who have signed an oath of commitment and confidentiality to pray daily for these requests.

If you would like to submit a prayer request you can do so here
